Cases and Gambling Risk – Our Position

In public discourse, there are often discussions about the similarities between item boxes in games (so-called loot boxes) and classic forms of gambling, such as roulette or bookmaker bets. Our service is not a gambling platform – each transaction results in receiving a real, digital item with visual application in the game.

Our Approach to Cases

For active Counter-Strike players, there is also the possibility of opening cases without incurring costs, thanks to the available free package option. Although some countries (e.g., Belgium, Netherlands) have banned such solutions, most countries recognize them as a legal form of digital entertainment, which is subject to separate regulations, including those concerning availability to underage users.

Poland and Loot Boxes – Legal Status

In Poland, the Ministry of Finance became interested in the issue of loot boxes, which in 2019 issued a statement stating that such mechanics do not violate the provisions of the Gambling Act. The key is that despite the element of randomness, the user in each case receives a reward, which excludes classification as a gambling game.

The topic was also the subject of a parliamentary interpellation (No. 4559 of September 2, 2024), which emphasized that although the phenomenon is monitored, loot boxes are not currently treated as gambling, although their potential connection with risky practices of some platforms is recognized.

Available Only to Adults

Although in many countries cases are also available to minors (and the PEGI system does not recognize them as 18+ content), our team has decided to introduce adulthood as a condition for using the service. We are guided by responsibility and the belief that the decision to use such functions should be conscious and mature – especially since Counter-Strike itself is marked as an 18+ title.

In practice, this means:

  • Clear information about age restriction before registration and login,
  • The obligation to mark content promoting the service as +18 by marketing partners,
  • Resignation from cooperation with content creators whose audience consists mainly of children and adolescents (e.g., materials related to Minecraft, Roblox),
  • Constant monitoring of activity on social media and on the site to identify accounts that may belong to minors. In such cases, we take actions such as account blocking and access restriction.

Not New – Similar Mechanisms Have Existed for Years

The "surprise" mechanic has long functioned in many well-known products:

  • Sachets with collectible cards (e.g., Pokémon, football),
  • Gashapon-type machines (balls with toys),
  • Surprise boxes in brick-and-mortar stores,
  • Food products with toys inside,
  • Subscription surprise boxes (with gadgets, snacks, etc.).

These are well-known and widely accepted forms of entertainment, whose mechanics are based on randomness, but are not identified with gambling.

Let's Shape a Responsible Future Together

We are open to dialogue and support actions for the appropriate regulation of the loot box market. We want to be part of a transparent, legal, and fair digital entertainment ecosystem that does not give space for abuse and unfair practices.

Our goal is to build trust, not to exploit users' ignorance. That's why we not only declare transparency – we implement it in our daily operations.
